TY Danjuma Foundation

The TY Danjuma Foundation is a private independent grant making philanthropic organisation based in Abuja, Nigeria. The Foundation’s vision is to contribute to the building of Nigeria where all citizens have access to affordable quality health care, education and have equal opportunities to realize their potential. Its grantmaking strategy, is to contribute towards building the capacity of NGOs, grantmakers, philanthropic and other charitable organizations towards sustainable development in Nigeria especially in the areas of Health, Income Generation, Education and Policy Advocacy.

Thus far, the Foundation has provided grants in the following areas: Community Health Initiatives; Provision of Free Medical Services; Partnership with community health centers and referral hospitals; Water and Wellbeing Project; Enhancing Quality of Education; Good Schools project; Community Libraries project; Peace education for schools in conflict prone communities in Nigeria; Youth Employability Interventions; Women’s Literacy and Entrepreneurial Skills Development and Policy Advocacy.

TY Danjuma Foundation’s support for Action Health Incorporated’s work commendced in 2010 and is directed at promoting young people’s access to sexual and reproductive health information and services in Taraba and Edo States.

Activities on the project within Edo and Taraba State are alined at:

  • Increasing the capacity of 500 junior secondary school teachers to effectively implement the Family Life and HIV Education (FLHE) curriculum in the project states
  • Increasing access to accurate, gender responsive sexual and reproductive health information through the Family Life and HIV Education curriculum for over 50,000 young people
  • Increasing access to teaching and learning resource materials for the Family Life and HIV Education curriculum
  • Establishing and operationalizing 4 (four) youth friendly service sites (two per state) with public health care facilities
  • Increasing the capacity of NGO and public health facilities staff to provide positive provider-client interaction and youth-responsive SRH services among 50 staff members
  • Increasing access to SRH information and services to 10,000 young people through youth friendly service provision sites
