The programme which took place at the AHI Youth Centre on March 25 and April 1, 2009 aimed at ensuring that students broadened their knowledge on adolescent reproductive and sexual health and know the processes involved in providing health services for adolescents.

It also afforded participants who were in two batches the opportunity to acquire skills on how to counsel young people on some of their sexual health challenges.

The curriculum consisted of topics such as Understanding Human Sexuality and the students had the opportunity to break the culture of silence on issues relating to sexuality; Principles of Adolescents’ Friendly Health Services. In preparing the students for the challenges of providing for adolescents, they had a formal training on attributes of service providers and facility that would attract young people to such services.

Apart from formal lectures, other methodologies such as brainstorming, experience sharing, value clarification exercises were employed basically to facilitate learning and skills building.

121 students participated in the programme.
