| On May
19, 2005, AHI joined the rest of the world to mark the
International AIDS Candlelight Memorial.
This year’s event, which had as its theme, "Turning
Remembrance Into Action" and sub-theme, "They
Were Once Like Us", honored the memory of those
lost to AIDS, and showed support for those living with
the virus.
Highlights of the occasion included song renditions
by the participants, and a quiz competition on HIV/AIDS
and its myths and facts. This was aimed at imparting
knowledge about the disease.
A minute's silence was held in honor of those who had
died from the disease.
The event witnessed a large turn-out of secondary school
students and out-of-school youth.
