As part of capacity building programme for young people
and to continually engage them in productive activities
especially during the holiday period, a seminar was
organized by AHI between April 12-27, 2005. The seminar,
tagged "Growing Up" was attended by eighty-five
(85) young people. It comprised group discussions and
role-plays on sexuality and reproductive health issues,
all aimed at inculcating in them, the positive values
that would aid their development.
Some of the topics treated were puberty, goal setting,
decision making, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDS/STIs.
The session also gave an insight into parent-child
communication and how this can aid in a child’s
development.
