Despite an increase in the number of programmes supporting girl-child education and empowerment in Lagos state, out-of-school adolescent girls living in slum communities remain marginalized.

As part of efforts to stop underage smoking, Action Health Incorporated (AHI) held a one-day smoking prevention programme on June 18, 2015 for students of 12 public secondary schools in Kaduna state.

The outreach, with the goal to educate students on adolescent health issues including sexually transmitted infections and adolescent development, is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the implementation of FLHE in Junior Secondary schools in Lagos state.

In promoting the well-being and development of out-of-school adolescent girls in Makoko, AHI in partnership with the Lagos State Agency for Mass Education and the Makoko community launched a two-year Out-of-School Adolescent Girls’ Empowerment Programme on June 17, 2014.

Action Health Incorporated (AHI) recently hosted the HIV and AIDS Education Coordinators from each of the six Education Districts of the Lagos State Ministry of Education at its office.

The group visited Nigeria to learn about the Family Life and HIV/AIDS Education (FLHE) Curriculum development and implementation process, and experience firsthand classroom delivery and quality assurance mechanisms and processes for the curriculum’s implementation.

The Clinic Health Day programme was aimed at improving young people's knowledge about STIs, and to equip them with right and adequate information that would promote good sexual and reproductive health.

April 25 is set aside every year to commemorate the World Malaria Day to highlight the advances that have already been made in malaria prevention and control, and to commit to continued investment and action to accelerate progress against this deadly disease.

The training which was designed to strengthen the implementation of Family Life and HIV Education in Ogun state was born after an assessment on the Status of FLHE implementation in 6 States.

The main purpose of the outreach was to improve the health of adolescent girls and women in Makoko through the provision of pre-and-post-natal care and family planning services. The outreach which was organized for women and girls between the ages of 15 and 45.

The competition was an opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned thus far about family life and HIV education.

The staggering rates of sexually transmitted infections and unwanted teenage pregnancies have alerted the need for comprehensive sexuality education.
